With growing technological advances, newer means of evaluating oral health in todays dentistry, especially for the T.M.D. patients has given neuromuscular dentists additional information to expand their diagnostic capabilities. The K7 Evaluation System from Myotronics-Noromed Inc., allows Dr. Christine Hindie's team to obtain necessary data to objectively measure occlusal function three dimensionally, in order to assist her in providing optimal diagnosis and treatment of all major dental cases - aesthetic, cosmetic, restorative, orthodontics and Temporomandibular Disorders. The scans obtained are invaluable three dimensional representations of mandibular rest, the relaxed neuromuscular path of closure, centric occlusion, habitual path of closure and protrusive guidance that aids Dr. Christine Hindie in recording an optimal occlusal position.

The J5 T.E.N.S - Transcutaneous Electrical Neural Stimulation
The Myomonitor(T.E.N.S.) is a battery operated electrical neural stimulator (the 5th and 11th nerves). Mild electrical stimulation is delivered through adhesive electrodes attached to the skin over muscle sites and nerves that control specific facial and neck muscle groups. The stimulus delivered by the Myomonitor is virtually painless and will cause your facial and jaw muscles to twitch or "pulse" once every one and one half seconds (40 times per minute). As the muscles are "exercised" with electrical stimulation and the muscles begin to relax, blood flow in the muscle increases. This not only brings more oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, but flushes away accumulated waste products of metabolism. It usually takes 45-60 minutes of electrical stimulation to get the jaw muscles to truly relax. The Goal: The Right Diagnostic leads to the Best Treatment Science and clinical experience have shown that a stable occlusal foundation in which muscles, joints and teeth all work together efficiently plays a crucial role in the positive outcome of all dental procedures. For optimal diagnosis and therapy, the clinician must be able to measure physiologic phenomena that indicate the state of occlusal function and its effect on both masticatory muscles and temporomandibular joints.

The patented K7 CMS (jaw tracking) has eight sensors, in an extremely lightweight (four ounce) sensor array, that tracks the motion of a small magnet attached to the lower incisal gingiva. It tracks mandibular motion in three dimensions and also displays mandibular torque. The light weight sensor array with padding is designed to be comfortable for the patient and has a wide opening which allows the doctor unobstructed access of the oral cavity for taking bite registrations or other clinical procedures.
Utilizing high quality bipolar surface electrodes, EMG data can be taken and displayed from up to eight muscle sites simultaneously and in real time. The program permits taking data either at rest or in function. All eight channels may be displayed simultaneously, for a period of 15 seconds
Bone transmission of sound is so rapid that unilateral study of joint sound with a stethoscope may not even discern which side the sound is coming from. Data captured by means of sonography not only record joint sounds from both TM joints simultaneously, but the information can be played back at will. The dentist can analyze this recorded information in a number of ways that may yield additional insight regarding joint status and joint function.
The way that the neuromuscular dentist achieves truly relaxed muscles is through the use of electrical neural stimulation, sometimes referred to as T.E.N.S. (Transcutaneous Electrical Neural Stimulation). The T.E.N.S. is used to deliver gentle stimulation to your muscles to help them get to that relaxed state.
